Eagle Area near Eagle answers to the local parks office rather than a federal or state agency. It sits about 98 miles west of downtown Denver as the crow flies, with Eagle as the nearest supply town on our board.

Campers rate it 4.9 of 5 across 143 reviews on RVParks.us, our sister directory, where the photo sets and firsthand reports live.

The drive from the metro heads up the I-70 mountain corridor. Fuel up before you leave town, since close-in prices beat every mountain and small-town pump, and build in a margin for summer weekend traffic on the way back. As Colorado camping runs go, this one earns its drive time.

At roughly 6,602 feet, the season runs longer here than at the high country camps, and spring or fall trips stay comfortable long after the mountain loops close for the year.

Hookups at locally run parks vary loop by loop, so confirm what your site includes when you book rather than assuming. The upside of these camps is availability and price; the tradeoff is infrastructure that ranges from full-service pads to plain gravel with a picnic table. Know which one you reserved.

Booking a Site Here

Reservations go through the operating agency rather than the big federal or state systems. Local booking setups change more often than anyone's website admits, so confirm current rules, season dates and fees with the office before you build a trip around it. The upside: these camps are routinely available when the famous names sold out months ago.

Pairing It With a Camper

From the Denver metro this is an easy launch either way: pick the camper up in town and you're backing in with daylight left, or have our crew quote the haul using the listing's radius and fee. Reserve the site in your own name first, then match the rig to the pad length and hookups. Our camper listings state length, tanks and power draw plainly, and we answer campground fit questions all day.

Contact & Location

Season dates, fees and site rules change. Confirm the current details with the operator before you commit a weekend, and if something on this page has gone stale, tell us so the next camper gets it right.

We stopped to view the Eagle River Park with white water rapids. The 600 cubic feet per second water discharge rate was quite loud. It was nicely built and had a neat fire feature crafted by a local artisan. Worth stopping to view and walk around.
