Moraine Park Campground
Estes Park, Colorado · Federal campground · books through recreation.gov, on a rolling reservation window.

Out near Estes Park sits Moraine Park Campground, one of Colorado's federal campgrounds, managed under Rocky Mountain National Park. It sits about 54 miles northwest of downtown Denver as the crow flies, with Estes Park as the nearest supply town on our board. It runs about 239 sites.
Campers rate it 4.6 of 5 across 418 reviews on RVParks.us, our sister directory, where the photo sets and firsthand reports live.
The drive from the metro heads up US-36 and into the Peak to Peak country. Fuel up before you leave town, since close-in prices beat every mountain and small-town pump, and build in a margin for summer weekend traffic on the way back. As Colorado camping runs go, this one earns its drive time.
It sits near 8,161 feet, high enough that summer nights drop hard after sunset. Shoulder season here is gorgeous and lightly booked; just confirm the operating dates before a spring or fall trip.
Set expectations before you pack: federal campgrounds mostly run dry, meaning no hookups at the site. Arrive with full fresh tanks and charged batteries, know your generator's posted hours, and plan tank capacity around the length of the stay. The rigs in our fleet list tank sizes plainly, and we'll match you to one that can go the distance off-grid.
Booking a Site Here
Sites here book through recreation.gov on a rolling window, and summer weekends vanish within minutes of opening. Set a calendar reminder for the morning your window releases and be logged in early. First come first served loops, where they exist, fill by Friday noon in July.
Pairing It With a Camper
From the Denver metro this is an easy launch either way: pick the camper up in town and you're backing in with daylight left, or have our crew quote the haul using the listing's radius and fee. Reserve the site in your own name first, then match the rig to the pad length and hookups. Our camper listings state length, tanks and power draw plainly, and we answer campground fit questions all day.

What Campers Say
★★★★☆We've camped here several times in the past few years. Pros: it is a solid spot in the national park which is close to Estes Park and Bear Lake. Some sites have great views of Longs. Wildlife frequents here Cons: Many sites are very close to each other, so not much privacy.

★★★★★Loved this campground. They had nice, clean restrooms (flush toilets, sinks with running water and soap). Our campsite was in walking distance of the comfort stations (bathrooms) but was a jaunt. Our spot was spacious and we were close to our neighbors but had plenty of trees in between that it wasn't an issue.
