Town of Carbondale Campground
Carbondale, Colorado · Locally run campground · books through the local parks office.

Town of Carbondale Campground is a locally run campground near Carbondale, operated by the local parks office. It sits about 121 miles west of downtown Denver as the crow flies, with Carbondale as the nearest supply town on our board.
Campers rate it 4.6 of 5 across 87 reviews on RVParks.us, our sister directory, where the photo sets and firsthand reports live.
This is a proper haul: the route runs up the I-70 mountain corridor, and the smart play is treating the drive as day one of the trip. Fuel and grocery stops get thinner the farther you get from the metro, so leave stocked, watch afternoon weather over the high ground, and arrive with daylight to spare.
At roughly 6,125 feet, the season runs longer here than at the high country camps, and spring or fall trips stay comfortable long after the mountain loops close for the year.
Hookups at locally run parks vary loop by loop, so confirm what your site includes when you book rather than assuming. The upside of these camps is availability and price; the tradeoff is infrastructure that ranges from full-service pads to plain gravel with a picnic table. Know which one you reserved.
Booking a Site Here
Reservations go through the operating agency rather than the big federal or state systems. Local booking setups change more often than anyone's website admits, so confirm current rules, season dates and fees with the office before you build a trip around it. The upside: these camps are routinely available when the famous names sold out months ago.
Pairing It With a Camper
From Denver, treat this one as a proper road trip leg. Most renters pick the camper up in the metro and make the drive part of the trip; long-haul delivery can be quoted with lead time. Reserve the site in your own name first, then match the rig to the pad length and hookups. Our camper listings state length, tanks and power draw plainly, and we answer campground fit questions all day.

What Campers Say
★★★★★The hosts in site 20 are so friendly and helpful! The bathrooms are immaculate! Even the pit toilets! And, i dont know how they do it, but the pit toilets don't smell! I never took a shower, but they do have solar heated water showers. They were used, so I assume they were fine.
★★★★★The hosts in this campground are phenomenal. Very friendly, hard working, and prepared. The view in the group campground is stunning cliffs of Maroon Fm. Sandstone. Against a sunrise it's worth your effort to get here. The bear boxes in each site are welcome and should be used at all times.
★★★★★Beyond 5-star experience! This campground was clean, clean, clean!! It's split into 2 sections, 1 side is primarily tent/van/small RV - which is the side I camped on (tent). The bathrooms on this side are vault toilets (2) with a solar powered shower housed in the same bathroom area.
